How to Testify at a Legislative Hearing

You can deliver testimony to a Committee in person, on Zoom, or in writing.

Here is a brief Testifying 101, from the ACLU

In your testimony, make sure that you provide:

Your name or the organization you represent
Your town of residence
The date of the public hearing
The bill's LD number & title for which you want to provide testimony
Whether you will testify for, or testify against the bill

· Select Public Hearing

· Choose a committee: Bills are typically under the Criminal Justice and Public Safety and occasionally Judiciary committee.

· Choose a date: The date of the public hearing.

· Select the bill, post or upload your written testimony, and if you want, please check the box to testify via Zoom. Fill out your name and email address. You will receive an email confirmation that your testimony was posted and a link to testify.

Written testimony can be as long as you want

3 minutes is the limit for in-person or Zoom testimony
